PERCTRAX Update - August

Hi all,

Unlike last year, Perc Trax is releasing on vinyl and digitally all through the summer, here's the latest...

1. Avus' 'Tapeworm EP' is out now on vinyl. Support has come from James Holden, Alex Kid, Jesse Somfay, Matt Tolfrey, Butane, James Mowbray, Chloe Harris, Marc Ashken plus great reviews in IDJ and Mixmag. It is also available digitally from www.3beatdigital.com and www.djdownload.com with more stores coming in the next few weeks. See releases section for more info.

2. The new digital-only single by Spartak (aka me) is out now. 'Double Compressed' and 'Double Dub' are two typical techy Spartak bangers and are the last release on Perc Trax Digital before it gets a major overhaul for the autumn; some very exciting releases in a few months time so keep 'em peeled.

3. Also recently out are the Avus and Perc remixes of Robert Babicz's 'Stars' on Barbarella which seem to be going down very well. I have a string of remixes in the pipeline, but more about them soon, as well as some gig news.

Cheers again and don't forget if check out www.myspace.com/perctrax for the latest release news, clips and pictures of biscuits.

Cheers,

Ali.

PERCTRAX Update - June

Hi,

Hi again, as we shoot though 2006 with frightening speed. Here are the headlines...

1. TPT009 the Razor EP by Perc & Gilbey is out now. Downloads are currently available exclusively from www.3beatdigital.com/search.php?sfd=0&sfr=perc+trax and from all other sites in the next few weeks. Check the releases section for clips and thanks to everyone that has emailed in about the release, it's great to hear from you all.

2. Next on Perc Trax is Avus's 'Tapeworm EP’, which marks Perc Trax's 10th release, out at the end of June. It’s fitting that Scott (Avus) provides the label's tenth release and it's three tracks of classic Avus deepness. More clips and info nearer the time.

3. There is a new digital only Spartak single - 'Double Compressed'. It's as tough as old boots and very different to the Perc & Gilbey release. Original Mix and 'Double Dub' are available now from www.3beatdigital.com and all other sites by the middle of June.

4. www.myspace.com/perctrax is now running. Definitely a work in progress, but the best place to hear the new stuff on Perc Trax.

5. Finally cheers to everyone that came to the Perc Trax night a few weeks back and thanks to Scott, Marc and Benji for their top sets. Cheers,

Ali.

PERCTRAX Update - April

Hi,

Hope you are all well, as ever a fairly busy month and there is a stack of new releases on the way soon.

Firstly the next Perc Trax is the 'Razor EP' by Perc & Gilbey, which funnily enough is me and Barry Gilbey. It is out mid May and features four tracks which have been supported by everyone from James Holden to Fergie (five Radio 1 plays and counting...) to Eye-Q/Harthouse legend Ralf Hildenbeutel. More info at the start of May but it's a release that I am really excited about.

Perc Trax has moved distributor, the label is now distributed by Amato via 3-Beat Label Management. I'd like to thank Unique Distribution for everything they have done for Perc Trax and I look forward to the future with 3-Beat and Amato. Because of this, keep an eye on the 3-Beat site for upfront vinyl and digital copies of Perc Trax releases.

The next Perc Trax party is confirmed for Friday 5th May at Public Life. DJs on the night are Border Community / Klang Electronik star and all round good egg Avus, plus Marc Ashken (who is popping up on every decent label known to man at present), me (Perc) and fast-rising newcomer BLM. The night runs from 9pm-3am and is free before 11 and £4 afterwards. The flyer will be linked from here very soon.

Soon to be released on the German Barbarella label are the Perc and Avus mixes of Rob Acid's 'Stars'. Myself and Scott serve up a mix each. Scott's is a trademark deep Avus clicker, while mine is a stripped down, bassline groover kind of thing. The release should be out around late April/early May.

Finally thanks to Leo, Lindsey and all the gang at Phuture in Manchester for such a great gig last month. Hope to see you all again soon.

Thanks once again,

Ali.

PERCTRAX Update - February

Quick update for you...

1. I'm playing at Phuture in Manchester on Friday 10th March, alongside Justin Harris from the Freaks. Should be a great night and there is a lot of new material I'm looking forward to playing. Check: www.phuture-music.co.uk for more information. Hope to see some of you there, it should be a big one.

2. Perc Trax has just released its fifth digital-only release. TPTDIGI005 'Unreleased Mixes Vol. 1' is a round-up of two remixes that did not make the respective vinyl releases of each track. First up is my unreleased remix of Good Livin's 'Feel So Good' which is very, very different to my dub which was on the vinyl. Completing the release is Stian Klo's additional remix of his own 'Timanfaya' which is a belting slice of chopped up techno.

Thanks once again,

Ali.

PERCTRAX Update - February

1. The main news at the moment is the release of Stian Klo's 'Timanfaya’ (TPT008). The vinyl is available right now from outlets everywhere and Beatport and 3-Beat Digital will have the downloads for sale from any day now. Mixes come from Cocoon/Truesoul star Ozgur Can and red-hot new Japanese talent Gonno. Support has come from an across the board selection of DJs including Funk D’Void, John Aquaviva, and Slacker. Please see the releases section for clips and further info.

2. Please remember that Perc Trax is always looking for new music and I listen to everything, so please feel free to get in touch with demos. Gutsy, messed-up, freaky music that never loses sight of the dance floor is always welcome, formula-following, half-arsed bandwagon-hoppers need not apply.

3. Finally, due to a few email problems ali@perctrax.com is acting up so please send all emails to that address but also CC them to aliperc@hotmail.com.

Thanks once again,

Ali.

PERCTRAX Update - January

Hi,

Hello there, Firstly Happy New Year to you all. 2005 was a great year for Perc Trax. Thanks to all of you for your support.

1. Marc Ashken's 'Bus Driver' has been out about a month now, vinyl available from all good record/web stores and mp3s available from www.beatport.com/labels/perc_trax and www.3beatdigital.com/label-info/Perc+Trax/36 Perc Trax will also be selling music via the Juno Digital site when it launches very soon.

2. The 2nd volume of my 'Vaultage' series is out now, and available exclusively from Beatport. This is a digital only release and again rounds up some of my favourite unreleased tracks. Check out the clips on Beatport and see if anything grabs you.

3. Stian Klo's 'Timanfaya' will be Perc Trax #8 and is released late January / early Febuary. Alongside the Original are mixes from Cocoon/Truesoul star Ozgur Can and rising Japanese producer Gonno. three mixes bleep, bang and glitch respectively, which is nice. Clips and info very soon...

4. I haven't done a chart for a while, but if you are at a loose end then check out Viking Music www.viking-music.com from Switzerland and WC Records www.wc-r.com from Japan. Viking put out everything from jackin' house to falsetto sung camp-as-you-like R&B, and their forthcoming 'Horns' compilation is essential. WC release tough techno, messed-up acid house amd weird electronica as CD albums, and Timanfaya remixer Gonno (see above) is one of their main talents.

5. Finally, thanks to everyone involved in the recent Perc Trax vs Lather, Rinse, Repeat Christmas Party, especially Marc Ashken and Andrew Kilzer for doing most of the work (!) and for James Holden for playing an amazing headline set. Hopefully there will be more parties in 2006, but I want to keep them fairly irregular so each is a special event, rather than it becoming just another monthly club night.

Thanks once again,

Ali.

PERCTRAX Update - November

Hi,

Just a quick update. A few good things happening this month.

1. Perc Trax #7 is out on Monday 21st November. Fresh from remixing my own 'Splashy' Marc Ashken fires out his own 'Bus Driver', with a remix from Crosstown Rebels' own Tolfrey & Sylvester. Matt Tolfrey has also just launched his own Leftroom label www.leftroom.com and Marc's 'Part Time Isolation' features on the debut release. Anyway, Busdriver has been on Radio 1 four times, Kiss FM twice thanks to Dave Mothersole, and Laurent Garnier, David Duriez and Slam all love it. It also features the first of the new Perc Trax artwork designs. Check the releases section for full info.

2. At the start of December, Beatport will be exclusively selling my 'Vaultage EP 2' rounding up a few more tracks from my past that still do the business when played out live. Lead track 'Release The Kraken' is one of the stupidest things I've ever done, but in a good way I think.

3. Thanks to everyone in Milan for making me feel so welcome at my gig last week at Gazoline, hopefully I'll see all of you again in 2006.

4. You can hear a DJ mix from me here: www.robsounds.co.uk/perctrax/perc.mp3 Not sure how long it will be there so get it while you can.

Cheers!

Ali

PERCTRAX Update - October

Hi,

1. My new single 'Splashy' is out now, both on vinyl and digitally via www.beatport.com and www.3beatdigital.com/labels2.php?label=36. Feedback has been great with Michael Mayer and Slam being key supporters. See releases section for more details.

2. The Perc Trax night was on Saturday 24th September and was a great success. Thanks to everyone who came down and especially to all the DJs that played. Some promo CDs were given out on the night and the mixes featured on them will be hosted online soon. More on that as soon as I have hosting info.

3. Next on Perc Trax is Marc Ashken's 'Bus Driver' with a remix from Tolfrey & Sylvester. Very early support has come from Laurent Garnier and Fergie, who has played it twice on his Radio 1 show to date.

4. Cheers to Lee, Paul and all the Riff Raff crew for making me feel so welcome in Middlesbrough at the start of September - had a great night and loved playing up there. Hopefully I'll be back in the new year at some point.

5. I'm currently working on a remix of Rob Acid for a German label. The other mix comes from the mighty Avus so it should be an interesting release.

More fun soon!

Ali

PERCTRAX Update - August

Hi all,

Back to speed after the summer break and loads going on, so without further delay…

1. The new Perc single is called 'Splashy'. It’s out on September 19th, and remixes come from Border Community and 'Fancy Arse' legend Avus, and new Perc Trax signing Marc Ashken. Clips will be up on the site two weeks before release and a very limited quantity of vinyl promos will be available to buy from the world's better record shops around the same time.

2. To coincide with the release, Perc Trax is hosting a party! It's at Public Life in London, which is just around the corner from Liverpool St station, on Saturday 24th September. DJs on the night will be Matt Tolfrey, whose excellent 'The Horn' is out now on Crosstown Rebels, plus Avus, Marc Ashken, London veterans Shuffle and Frisbo and some bloke called Perc. Always wanted to say that... Flyer will be up on this site the moment it is complete and please email me ali@perctrax.com for guestlist info.

3. The original and James Holden mixes of 'Fancy Arse' by Avus are now available as mp3s for the very first time, exclusively from 3-Beat's digital site. www.3beatdigital.com/labels2.php?label=36 All other releases are available as mp3s there, but the digital only Perc Trax releases remain exclusive to Beatport. 'Splashy' will be available digitally from Beatport and 3-Beat one week after the vinyl release and a little further down the line there will be my second volume of my digital only 'Vaultage' series.

More fun soon!

PERCTRAX Update - July

Hi all,

A little surprise from Perc Trax... My track 'Closer' is now available from Beatport including the amazing remix by Border Community / Traum star Nathan Fake.

This is due to the rights returning to me after the company that owned the Premier Sounds label was finally wound up.

My mix is a lot more epic than the stuff I'm currently working on, but still does the job in the right situation and Nathan's mix is pure quality.

The direct link to Perc Trax on Beatport is www.beatport.com/perctrax

Been a bit of a battle to get this one up for sale, hopefully it was worth the effort!

Cheers

Ali

I am now just waiting for the remixes to come back on the new Perc single and then Perc Trax will return to full vinyl duty with three rapid-fire releases.

Hello also to everyone I met at Sonar, I had a great time and the range and quality of music I saw was really inspiring. It was really good to get out of London and get a new perspective on things.

PERCTRAX Update - May

Hi all,

Just a quick update. Paul Lancaster's 'Many Paths' (TPT005) is out now and going really well for Perc Trax. Featuring Paul's original and my Spartak remix, it's been another well-recieved release so I'm a happy man.

I'm currently getting remixes sorted for the next batch of releases, which will be released from late summer onwards.

To tide you over until then, www.beatport.com will soon be selling a digital only release by me, made up of a handul of tracks that were previously made exclusively for my live sets.

Perc Trax will also be out at Sonar in Barcelona from 16th-19th June. Various people related to the label are playing at events over the course of the festival. Full info on these gigs will be up here from the start of June, but if you wish to meet me at Sonar, then email ali@perctrax.com

Thanks again,
Ali.

Downloads of the track will be available from www.beatport.com from the same time. Please see the releases section for more info and sound clips.
